About The Photographer

Thank you for taking a moment to stop by and learn a little about me!

My name is Heather Sikkenga and I’m a natural light photographer – specializing in Senior Photography.  I live in Mattawan, but work in all of Southwest Michigan.  My love of photography has been ongoing for several years now and I love what I do.  It wasn’t until 2011 that I decided that I wanted to specialize in High School Senior Portraits.  I have been married for 15 years and have 2 wonderful teenagers.  Oh the teen years, what can I say?   Every couple of minutes their head comes off their shoulder,  rotates 360 deg. and they go back to normal again.

10 fun things you didn’t know about me!

1.  I love my morning cup of coffee, even though it is decaf!  I call it black water.

2.  I hated sports as a child (Blah!!!) but now I love most any youth sports and I can even say with pride the Detroit Lions.

3.  I  am not fond of cooking for a family of 4 but I love to cook a good meal for a large group of football coaches and players.

4.  I hate grocery shopping but I want to learn to do extreme couponing.  No! I will not hoard but would donate.

5.  I am known for crying over a movie, tv show and even the Folgers coffee commercial during the holidays.  My kids like to call me a sap and I am fine with that.  ha ha!!!!!!

6.  I would love to go on a vacation to the UK, Africa or Australia.  Okay I will go anywhere out of Michigan for a vacation as long as I don’t have to work.!!

7.  I grew up with horses and when I was 11 my horse knocked out my top front tooth.  Umm, can we say OUCH!!!!!  I recently got a new implant and had to go a year with no front tooth and just a flipper.

8.  I listen to a lot of music and it’s not uncommon to see me dancing to “Dynamite by Tiao Cruz” up in the press box during the high school football games.

9.  I have 2 younger brothers and I was so mean to the middle one.  Sorry Eric!!   There is hope that a mean sister can turn into a good human-being.  I am proof of that!

10.  I love going to the camera store.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!  My kids tell me I am worse then a kid in a candy store.
